Special needs: Bags of plastic spoons. Within the first few days of school, I will start giving out spoons of government surplus peanut butter prior to recess. Kids at this age sometimes have a tough time waiting for lunch and it can affect their attention in class. Therefore, the need for inexpensive plastic spoons is great throughout the year, and I forgot to add it to my class list of supplies this year. It would be helpful if each child can bring in one big bag of the cheapest spoons.

Here are some basic supplies. Please put your child's name on personal supplies. Community Supplies such as kleenex will be made available throughout the room.

Here is a list of helpful supplies for your student for use at school and at home:

• Inexpensive solar calculator to be kept at school (name on front)
• Colored pencils (sharpened)
• 1 regular fine tipped Sharpie, 1 ultra-fine tipped Sharpie (all black ink for directed drawing with name taped to pens).
• Dictionary (for home use)
• Extra crayons
• Fine tipped markers for art (Walmart has a great set of brush tip markers that are inexpensive).
• Erasers (pencil top or square)
• Extra pencils
• Friskar student scissors with name
• Inexpensive pastels
• Small binder with loose-leaf paper (the desks don't hold much so an inexpensive soft cover binder is preferable to the larger size.
• Backpack
• School glue (Elmer's)
• Small quiet individual pencil sharpener that will contain the shavings (I only will allow pencil sharpening at designated times. I am very inflexible on this rule due to the disturbance it causes, but this will allow pencil sharpening whenever it is needed)
• Water bottle with secure lid, pre-filled each day with water only (no ice due to condensation).

  Community supplies to be used during the year by the whole class: (Please send in during the first week of school)

  • 1 box of baby wipes for hand washing
  • 1 large box of tissues
  Items we can always use for our class store are:
  • Containers of red licorice
  • Bags of any type of candy
  • Fancy pencils
  • Folders
  • Mechanical pencils
  • Large bags of Jolly Ranchers (Costco size)
  • Glitter pens
