I have been getting a lot of inquiries into the progress towards getting our neighborhood park, behind the fire station, finally built.
The city staff is well into the next budget, and the excess funds county measure R park tax money we identified, and available for this purpose, has a narrow window. If we want to get the Rancho Vista park built in our lifetime, we need to get neighbors to bombard city manager Dave Childs, Mayor Ledford, as well as councilmembers Dispenza, Thompson and Martinez that this MUST be done NOW!
Ask that maybe some of the Warnack Foundation money be used, along with Park Fees and Measure R County money.
Also Norm Hickling at Antonovich's office, as they have the Measure R checkbook.

[email protected] Gentlemen, Rancho Vista Homeowners strongly encourages you to support our local Rancho Vista park and allocate money for its development. This park was in the Rancho Vista Specific Plan, and we have been waiting for this promised park for decades. There were also tennis courts in the plan. Those also never went in. Please don't take away another amenity that was promised to us! In the years we have been waiting, we lost half the land to a fire station. Rancho Vista Homeowners didn't oppose this, because we needed the fire station. We knew the City was very short on money, and purchasing land was prohibitive. Now that there are park funds available, it's time to give us our local park! Marie Kerr park is heavily used now; however it is not easily accessible to the children of the Rancho Vista development. Our kids need to cross several heavily trafficked and dangerous roadways in order to get to that park. Both of our large parks are heavily used by people who do not live in the area or even the AV. Some of our parents do not find that to be a safe environment for young children in a busy play area. Our neighborhood needs a small local park where our kids can play safely. The City has spent a large sum of money redeveloping the East side of town. While we understand this is due to the age of the area, you shouldn't neglect the West side. There needs to be some balance. Our neighborhood should not be overlooked merely because the homes are newer. Please do not continue to overlook the West side of town. Putting in a promised amenity will do a lot for our quality of life and our neighborhood in general. It's the right thing to do!
